Coach Del Rio and the Jack Del Rio Foundation are great supporters of our armed services and appreciate all that they do for our Nation. Because of the dedication and sacrifices these families make to protect and preserve our freedom, we feel it is our duty to help them in return. Out of this philosophy came the Jack’s Pack Program.

In September 2010, the Jack Del Rio Foundation, in conjunction with the leadership at Naval Station Mayport, launched its new outreach program to the children of Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville. After going through an application process, 25 kids with parents based at N.S. Mayport were selected as members of the inaugural 2010 Jack’s Pack class. Most of these kids have at least one parent currently deployed and the focus of the initiative is to help them deal with having a parent gone. The message we want to instill in our Pack is to work hard, do your best in school and maintain good grades, stay physically fit, live a healthy lifestyle and consciously work to be a contributing member of their household while the family is going through this current deployment.

Over the next several months, the Pack will have monthly outings to various venues throughout the Jacksonville area. During these outings, speakers will talk to the kids on various topics ranging from healthy living to dealing with a parent’s deployment to focusing on and planning ahead to reach goals.

The Jack Del Rio Foundation would like to thank Naval Station Mayport leadership for the tremendous job they have done in guiding and helping us in this endeavor. They are the key to our understanding exactly what these children’s needs are and how we can work to meet them. Their willingness in allowing us to join their community and participate in the lives of the wonderful kids is sincerely appreciated. We are working hard to achieve our goal of making a positive and significant impact in the lives of these children.
